How it works

From blank canvas to a decision.

This is what a session in BrainSwitchs looks like, start to finish. Most people get the hang of it in one sitting.

  1. 1. Sign up and pick a side

Sign up with Google. On the home screen you'll see the split brain. Tap the left half for logical work like planning or studying, or the right half for creative work like writing or brainstorming. Give the project a name and a goal.

  2. 2. Your canvas opens

Every project starts as an open canvas. Drag empty space to move around and scroll to zoom. Pick a tool from the bottom toolbar, or double-click anywhere for a sticky note. Paste a link or an image and it lands where you are.

    Why now?

Three customers asked for exports this month.

  3. 3. Add what the task needs

Checklists for tasks, a sheet block for numbers, a database for anything you track, a page for longer writing. Connect blocks with arrows, group them in frames with Cmd/Ctrl+G, or open a sub-canvas when a topic needs its own space.

Everyone mentioned exports. Two people asked for a calendar. Nobody cared about themes.

  4. 4. Stuck? Use a Thinking Protocol

First Principles, Inversion, 5 Whys and others are one click away in the canvas toolbar. The protocol is laid out as blocks, so you just fill in the blanks.

  5. 5. Start a sprint

Hit the timer at the top of the canvas for 25 or 50 minutes. Turn on the focus sound with headphones: 16 Hz in logical mode, 10 Hz in creative mode. The sound follows you between pages and canvases without restarting.

  6. 6. Pass the Decision Gate

When the sprint ends you write one decision or next step. It gets stamped on the project, so the next time you open it you know exactly where you left off.

  7. 7. Look back

Under Me you'll find your Timeline, Calendar, Living Brain and Network. Over a few weeks you'll see whether you spend all your time planning and never creating, or the other way round.
